Set up free uptime monitoring with Uptime Robot

  • Uptime Robot
  • uptime monitoring
  • website monitoring
  • automations
  • alerts

What it is

A free monitor that checks your website, app, or automation every 5 minutes and alerts you when it stops responding.

Who it’s for

Founders, consultants, and operators who run a website, a client portal, a vibe-coded app, or an automation that other people depend on

What it helps you do

Walks through setting up your first monitor on Uptime Robot's free plan, choosing your alerts, and having an AI agent do the setup for you.

Why it’s useful

Without monitoring, you often learn something broke when a client or prospect tells you. A monitor tells you first, so you are no longer the person who has to check.

What you’ll get

  • A monitor on your public website
  • Alerts sent to your email or phone
  • A prompt that has an agent with computer use do the setup

Set it up

  1. Create a free account at uptimerobot.com.
  2. Click New and choose HTTP / website monitoring.
  3. Paste your site's address under URL to monitor.
  4. Choose your alerts under Notifications and alerts.
  5. Leave the interval at 5 minutes and click Create monitor.

Start with your home page, then your signup or booking page. For an automation, use a health check address, never the webhook that starts it. Otherwise the monitor triggers a run every 5 minutes. The free plan covers 50 monitors.

Choose your alerts

AlertCost
EmailFree
Uptime Robot app on iOS or AndroidFree
Text message1 credit per text in most countries
Voice call2 credits per call

Credits are one-time purchases.

Or let an agent do it

Sign in to Uptime Robot yourself first, then give an agent with computer use, like ChatGPT Work or Codex, this prompt:

I need my website monitored. Use computer use.
Set up Uptime Robot monitors for [your website] and [your automation's health check address].
Never monitor a webhook that starts a workflow.
Send alerts to my account email. Ask me before you choose anything you are unsure about.

Check the monitors it creates before you rely on them. A monitor tells you whether an address responds, not whether the work behind it succeeded. Fixing problems, and telling affected clients, stays with you.
